SATO CL4NX Plus: resolution and accessory mode belong beside the print-speed claim

Documentation research checked 14 October 2026. Scope: SATO English online CLNX Plus manual; no installed configuration tested. No hands-on test or supplier audit is reported.

A printer’s headline speed is a weak planning number if the purchasing record omits the print resolution and output configuration. For SATO CL4NX Plus, these are documented conditions, not minor footnotes. A buyer comparing proposals should keep the chosen configuration beside the speed claim and avoid treating a family maximum as evidence of the output rate a particular job will achieve.

What the checked table says

The English CLNX Plus manual gives CL4NX Plus speed-setting ranges up to 14 inches per second for 203 and 305 dpi, and up to 6 for 609 dpi. It also identifies lower ranges under optional dispenser or linerless-cutter conditions. The table was read on 14 October 2026. These are settings in manufacturer documentation, not throughput measured by SVT.

The distinction is useful before any offer is ranked. A 609 dpi proposal should not inherit the 14 ips family figure merely because both proposals share the CL4NX Plus name. Likewise, a configuration with an optional output accessory needs the applicable condition retained. The article does not recommend a setting or claim that operating at a listed maximum produces acceptable labels.

Ask what the speed figure describes

A comparison file can distinguish the resolution specified in the offer, the output arrangement, the documented setting range and any separately demonstrated job result. The fourth field should remain empty unless there is relevant evidence. A nominal print-speed field cannot independently answer how many complete, usable labels a workflow produces in a given period.

That workflow question has a different unit and evidence burden. It may include the particular label job and the way output is handled, but those details must come from the actual requirement and assessment. Do not invent a labels-per-minute result by converting a linear speed without documenting the assumptions. An attractive derived number can conceal the very configuration distinction the manual makes visible.

Keep a resolution choice explicit

Resolution is not a universal quality ranking in this record. The enquiry should explain what needs to be represented on the label and leave application validation to the responsible reviewer. A more densely specified printhead does not permit this document review to promise better readability, barcode compliance or downstream scanning. Those conclusions need their own relevant evidence.

A hypothetical seller comparison can therefore use a neutral finding: one proposal states resolution and accessory mode clearly; another quotes a family maximum without those conditions. The second proposal needs clarification. That is a documentation finding, not proof that one printer is faster in the buyer’s process or that the other seller is misleading.

A useful procurement description

Retain the exact CL4NX Plus configuration, the relevant table and the date checked together. State that the documented setting range is conditional and that job output remains unmeasured. No printer, media, ribbon, application or accessory was tested for this article. The guide supports a clearer enquiry and a more honest comparison of evidence; current configuration and usable throughput remain Not independently verified for this article.

Evidence and limits
